AAP legislator Naresh Balyan was arrested here on Saturday in connection with an extortion case lodged last year, police said. The MLA from Delhi's Uttam Nagar Assembly segment was called to the Delhi Police's Crime Branch office in R K Puram for questioning and was later arrested, they said. The development came hours after the BJP alleged that Balyan was involved in extortion activities and questioned why AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has not taken action against him. The Aam Aadmi Party defended Balyan, claiming that his arrest was illegal. The MLA had refuted the BJP's allegations and said he would lodge police cases against those who "spread lies" about him. A police official said that an audio clip of a conversation purportedly between Balyan and gangster Kapil Sangwan, currently based abroad, had gone viral on social media. The conversation involved discussions about collecting extortion money from businessmen, he said, adding further investigation and interrogation was underway. AAP MP Sanjay Singh alleged that since Kejriwal has started raising the issue of law and order and rising crime in Delhi, the BJP and the central government are "trying to harass and conspire against his party leaders". "Balyan has been arrested under this conspiracy and the charges against him are baseless," Singh claimed. "The BJP leaders have played a fake audio despite the High Court's order against it. Lisa Simpson once said during an episode of “The Simpsons:” What could be more exciting than the savage ballet that is pro football? On Monday night, the entire Simpsons universe gets to experience it in a way not many could have imagined. The prime-time matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys will also take place at Springfield’s Atoms Stadium as part of “The Simpsons Funday Football” alternate broadcast. The altcast will be streamed on ESPN+, Disney+, and NFL+ (on mobile devices). ESPN and ABC have the main broadcast, while ESPN2 will carry the final “ManningCast” of the regular season. The replay will be available on Disney+ for 30 days. Globally, more than 145 countries will have access to either live or on replay. “We’re such huge football fans, and the Simpsons audience and the football audience, I feel, are like the same audience of just American families and football. And the Simpsons are so much a part of the DNA of the American family and culture that for us to, like, mush them together in this crazy video game, it’s so fun,” said Matt Selman, executive producer of “The Simpsons.” While the game is the focal point, the alternate broadcast, in some ways, will resemble a three-hour episode of “The Simpsons.” It starts with Homer eating too many hot dogs and having a dream while watching football. Homer joins the Cowboys in the dream while Bart teams up with the Bengals. Even though “Homer at the Bat” remains the consensus favorite sports episode for many Simpsons fans, there have been football ones such as “Bart Star” and “Lisa The Greek.” There also was a Super Bowl-themed one after Fox’s broadcast of Super Bowl 33 between Denver and Atlanta in 1999. Even though “The Simpsons” remains a staple on Fox’s prime-time schedule, it is part of the Disney family after their acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. All 35 seasons are on Disney+. The show’s creators have worked with ESPN and the NFL to make sure the look and sound is definitely Simpsonsesque. The theme song is a mash-up of “The Simpsons” opening and “Monday Night Football’s” iconic “Heavy Action.” There have also been pre-recorded skits and bits to use during the broadcast featuring Simpson’s legendary voices Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, and Yeardley Smith. The telecast will be entirely animated, with the players’ movements in sync with what is happening in real-time on the field. That is done through player-tracking data enabled by the NFL’s Next Gen Stats system and Sony’s Beyond Sports Technology. While Next Gen Stats tracks where players are on the field with a tracking chip in the shoulder pads, there is skeletal data tracking and limb tracking data — which uses 29 points per player — to get closer to the player’s movements. The other data tracking will allow Beyond Sports and Disney to add special characters to the game. For example, there might be a play where Lisa catches the ball and goes 30 yards instead of Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins. “Lisa is much smaller than the rest of the players. So, in real life, the ball would go over her head, but now, with data processing, we can take the ball and make it go exactly into her hands. So for the viewer, it still looks believable, and it all makes sense,” said Beyond Sports co-founder Nicolaas Westerhof. The other major challenge is making “The Simpsons” two-dimensional cartoon characters into 3-D simulations. Szykowny and his team worked to make that a reality over the past couple of months. “That’s a big leap of faith for them to say, hey, we trust you to make our characters 3-D and work with it. Our ESPN creative studio team has done a wonderful job,” Szykowny said. Lisa, Krusty, Nelson, Milhouse and Ralph will be with Bart and the Bengals; while Carl, Barney, Lenny and Moe join up with with Homer and the Cowboys. Mobarak Hossain, officer-in-charge of the Tejgaon Police Station, told The Daily Star, "Munni Saha was wanted in a case filed earlier. She was arrested after police rescued her from locals in the capital's Kawran Bazar area." Sohel Rana, inspector (investigation) of the Tejgaon Police Station, told The Daily Star, "We rushed to the spot and rescued Munni Saha. A team from the detective branch of police then took her into custody." According to video footage, circulated on social media, people were seen accusing Munni Saha for spreading misinformation during the BDR mutiny in 2009 through her reporting. On July 22, a murder case was filed against 193 individuals including Munni Saha and six other journalists over the death of a student – 17-year-old Nayeem Howlader -- in the capital's Jatrabari area on July 19. Nayeem's father Kamrul Islam filed the murder case with Jatrabari Police Station. The six other journalists named in the case are Mozammel Haque Babu, managing director and editor-in-chief of Ekattor TV; Syed Ishtiaque Reza, former chief news editor (CNE) of Ekattor TV; Ahmed Jobaer, a director of Somoy TV; Farzana Rupa, former principal correspondent of Ekattor TV; Shakil Ahmed, former head of news at Ekattor TV; and Nayeemul Islam Khan, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's press secretary. Of the FIR-named journalists in the case, Mozzamel Babu, Farzana Rupa, and Shakil Ahmed have been arrested. They are now in jail.

NASSAU, Bahamas — Scottie Scheffler birdied every hole but the par 3s on the front nine at Albany Golf Club on Friday and finished his bogey-free round with an 8-under 64 that gave him a two-shot lead in the Hero World Challenge. Two months off did nothing to slow the world's No. 1 player. Scheffler already has eight victories this year and is in position to get another before the end of the year. Scheffler was at 13-under 131, two ahead of Akshay Bhatia (66) and Justin Thomas (67), both of whom had to save par on the 18th hole to stay in range going into the weekend. Scheffler started with a lob wedge to 2 feet for birdie and never slowed until after he went out in 29 to seize control of the holiday tournament against a 20-man field. Scheffler cooled slightly on the back nine, except it didn't feel that way to him. "Front nine, just things were going my way. Back nine, maybe not as much," Scheffler said. Rebecca Richard/Franklin Journal FARMINGTON — The Regional School Unit 9 board of directors meeting on Nov. 12 focused on financial transparency, community support programs, and addressing the challenges of poverty, reflecting the district’s commitment to its students and community. Superintendent Christian Elkington provided updates on several initiatives, including the approval of special allocations through the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan. “It’s not a grant in the sense of several of our other grants,” Elkington explained. “It’s more like a special allocation based on numbers. I did approve it because it’s just a one-time amount of money.” Elkington also discussed the district’s recent efforts to better support staff and students. Social workers and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts [BCBAs] are offering monthly office hours to address various needs. “They have an extra five days, and we were trying to figure out what’s the best way to use some of that time in supporting students and staff,” he said. “We’ll collect data and we’ll move forward with that, but another way to be looking at either supporting students through staff or supporting staff in these somewhat challenging times.” Elkington highlighted a partnership between the Mission at the Eastwood [MATE], a nonprofit organization, and the Foster Career and Technical Education Center [FCTEC]. “The Mission at the Eastwood is a local organization, and FCTEC is going to be working with them and looking at ways to have some of our programs support those who will be needy in the community with helping to build things for homes and so forth,” he said. In other news, Elkington and Director of Finance Alison Gamache plan to meet with Weld Selectmen to address concerns about the town’s increased financial contributions to RSU 9. “As we know, Weld’s numbers have gone up fairly dramatically in the last couple of years,” Elkington said. The discussions will include district costs by community, the impact of state property valuations, and mil rate adjustments. A full report will be shared with the board following the meeting. The meeting also included discussion of a report titled “The Cost of Being Poor Is Rising”, which highlighted the increasing challenges faced by low-income families. “One of the things that has been shared, it’s more and more difficult for poorer people to get out of those holes than ever before,” Elkington said. “The cost of goods and services has gone up, making it harder and harder to try and pull yourself out.” Elkington also shared information about an upcoming Geographic Information System [GIS] map that will detail community access to transportation, health insurance, and supplemental needs like food assistance. He referenced a recent conference in Waterville, noting that in some Somerset County communities, nearly 30% of residents lack access to a vehicle. “They could not buy groceries, they could not go to the pharmacist, they could not get to health care,” he said. Board members were pleased with progress in filling staff vacancies, noting that openings have been reduced by half over the past three months. A cost-effective technology demonstrator mission for in-space docking, it would make India join an elite list featuring China, Russia and the US. ISRO has scheduled the lift-off of the PSLV-C60 rocket, at 9.58 pm from the first launch pad at this spaceport here on December 30 and it would carry SpaDeX with two spacecraft as the primary payloads along with 24 secondary payloads. "PSLV-C60/SpaDeX Mission Launch countdown commenced at 9 pm" on Sunday, an ISRO official told PTI. The in-space docking technology would be essential for taking up India's ambitions in space including sending human to the Moon, bringing samples from there, and also building and operating India's own space station- Bharatiya Antariksh Station. The docking technology would also be utilised when multiple rocket launches are planned to achieve common mission objectives. ISRO said the two spacecraft in the PSLV rocket-- Spacecraft A (SDX01) and Spacecraft B (SDX02) would be placed in an orbit that would keep them 5 km apart from each other. Later, scientists at ISRO headquarters would try to bring them closer up to 3 metre which would subsequently lead them for merging together at an altitude of about 470km above Earth. The process is expected to take place about 10-14 days after the scheduled lift-off on Monday, ISRO officials said. In the SpaDeX mission, Spacecraft A carries a High Resolution Camera, while Spacecraft B has Miniature Multispectral Payload and a Radiation Monitor Payload. These payloads would provide high resolution images, natural resource monitoring, vegetation studies among others. Apart from this significant mission, scientists would also conduct the PSLV Orbital Experimental Module-4 (POEM-4) in which 24 payloads--14 from ISRO and 10 from industry and academia, would be placed in the desired orbits one after the other over a 90 minute period after the lift-off. The life of the payloads in the fourth stage would be about three to four months. The vehicle for the PSLV-C60 mission used here would be the 18th Core-Alone variant. This would be ISRO's last mission in 2024 and the PSLV-C60 is the first vehicle to be integrated upto the fourth stage at the PSLV Integration Facility that has been established here.
