(AP) — President-elect Donald Trump said Wednesday that he has chosen Keith Kellogg, a highly decorated retired three-star general, to serve as his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Kellogg, who is one of the architects of a staunchly conservative policy book that lays out an “America First” national security agenda for the incoming administration, will come into the role as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine enters its third year in February. Preparing for the last mission of the year, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Sunday announced that it will be deploying 24 scientific experiments into space aboard the PSLV Orbital Experiment Module-4 (POEM-4) under the SpaDeX mission . The launch is expected to take place on December 30 as per reports. POEM uses the leftover fourth stage of the PSLV rocket to perform in-orbit microgravity experiments for up to three months. Instead of becoming space debris after delivering the primary payloads, this platform allows scientists to test new ideas and technologies in space, paving the way for future missions, the space agency said in a statement. The SpaDeX mission is the fourth POEM mission in the series. The 24 payloads include a mix of projects from different entities--14 payloads are from ISRO and its research facilities and 10 are from various non-government entities (NGEs) comprising academia and startups that have been received through the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe). “This is a significant three-fold increase in the capacity of POEM as compared with the previous POEM-3 platform, wherein it had hosted only eight payloads,” ISRO said. ISRO announced that the five payloads from the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) aim to experiment with a debris-capturing robotic arm, a MEMS-based high-rate sensor, a gradient control reaction wheel, a laser unit, and a plant research module. The four payloads from the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL) will conduct experiments such as analysing electron temperature, tools for studying electron density and neutral winds, and ionospheric modelling. The 10 payloads from NGEs relate to the study of various spectra of science and engineering, such as the growth of plant callus in space from Amity University in Mumbai, green monopropellant-based propulsion system thrusters from Bellatrix Aerospace and another green propulsion from Manastu Space Technologies. (AP) — The owners of a Colorado funeral home accused of piling 190 bodies inside a room-temperature building and giving the grieving relatives fake ashes pleaded guilty Friday to corpse abuse as aggrieved families looked on in court. Jon and Carie Hallford, who own the Return to Nature Funeral Home, began storing bodies in a decrepit building near Colorado Springs as far back as 2019 and gave families dry concrete in place of cremated remains, according to the charges. The grim discovery last year upended families’ grieving processes. Over the years, the Hallfords spent extravagantly , prosecutors say. They used customers’ money and nearly $900,000 in pandemic relief funds to buy laser body sculpting, fancy cars, trips to Las Vegas and Florida, $31,000 in cryptocurrency and other luxury items, according to court records. Last month, the Hallfords pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges in an agreement in which they acknowledged defrauding customers and the federal government. The two have been charged with more than 200 charges of corpse abuse, theft, forgery and money laundering in state court. Jon Hallford is represented by the public defenders office, which does not comment on cases. Carie Hallford’s attorney, Michael Stuzynski, declined to comment. Over four years, customers of Return to Nature spread what they thought were their loves ones’ ashes in meaningful locations, sometimes a plane’s flight away . Happy Holidays from my family to yours! 5 pounds Yukon Gold Potatoes, chopped 6 garlic cloves, minced Kosher salt 1/2 cup butter 1 cup heavy/whipping cream 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature Peel and Cut Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into uniform chunks, about 1 inch thick. Place the cut potatoes into a large stock pot filled with cold water. Boil the Potatoes: Once your potatoes are cut, make sure the water level is about 1 inch above the potatoes in the pot. Stir in the minced garlic, then turn the heat to high and bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, add salt then reduce the heat to medium-high (or whatever setting keeps the boil going) and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until a knife easily slides into the middle of a potato. Carefully drain the water. Pan-Dry the Potatoes: Once you’ve drained the water, immediately return the potatoes to the hot stockpot and place it back on the burner over low heat. Using oven mitts, carefully grip the handles and gently shake the pot for about a minute to help release any remaining steam from the potatoes. Remove the pot from the heat.
