One of the primary arguments put forth by Trump and his supporters is the need to protect national security by controlling the flow of individuals entering the country illegally. They argue that allowing illegal immigrants to stay in the US poses a risk to the safety and well-being of American citizens, as some individuals may have criminal backgrounds or connections to terrorist organizations. By enforcing strict immigration laws and deporting those who are in the country unlawfully, Trump aims to safeguard the nation from potential threats. In conclusion, the upcoming collaborative away jersey for FC Barcelona x Kobe Bryant is a must-have for fans of both sports and fashion. Each design tells a unique story and pays homage to the legacies of two iconic figures in the world of sports. Whether you prefer a bold and modern aesthetic or a minimalist and understated look, one thing is for sure – this collaborative jersey is a winning combination that you wouldn't want to miss out on.World number one Luke Humphries continued his bid for back-to-back World Championship titles after easing through to the last 16. While there was high drama in Alexandra Palace on the first day back after the Christmas break, where Damon Heta threw a nine-dart finish, Humphries enjoyed a serene evening. He beat Nick Kenny 4-0 to set up a mouth-watering fourth-round meeting with two-time champion Peter Wright. THE WORLD NUMBER ONE KICKS ON! The Australian, seeded ninth, achieved darting perfection in the second set of his match with Luke Woodhouse to earn a cool £60,000 payday. However, his joy was short-lived as Woodhouse won a thrilling battle 4-3, having trailed 3-1. Heta’s feat was the second time a nine-darter has been thrown in the 2025 tournament and the 16th of all time at the World Championship, following Christian Kist’s effort before Christmas. As well as landing the Australian a hefty payday, it also saw a lucky fan in Ally Pally win a £60,000, with £60,000 also being donated to Prostate Cancer UK. There were several other titanic battles, none better than Gerwyn Price’s sudden-death leg victory over Joe Cullen. Price looked like he was going to have an easy night when he coasted into a 3-0 lead, but Cullen hit back to send it to a decider, which went all the way. Cullen landed a ‘Big Fish’ 170 checkout to send the tie to a sudden-death leg on his throw but Price hit some big numbers to steal victory. “That was tough, I just wanted to get over the winning line,” he said during his on-stage interview. PRICE WINS A THRILLER! That might just be the game of the tournament so far! 💥 Gerwyn Price manages to break the Rockstars throw in the final leg of the game, and beats Joe Cullen 4-3 and books his place in the Last 16! 📺 https://t.co/pIQvhqYxEj #WCDarts pic.twitter.com/VnjnJxP0T0 — PDC Darts (@OfficialPDC) December 27, 2024 “He kept coming back, the crowd were way behind him. “I thought I was going to lose, but I kept in there right to the end and got the win. “He played some good darts at the right times. I put myself in that position, I got myself out of it and I’m still in.” Seventh seed Jonny Clayton also battled to victory after squandering a 3-0 lead against Daryl Gurney. Gurney then had six darts to send the decider to a tiebreaker but lost his nerve and Clayton stole a 4-3 win. Stephen Bunting and Peter Wright, who was suffering from a chest infection, enjoyed much more safe passages with routine wins over Madars Razma and Jermaine Wattimena respectively.

Singapore’s largest port operator PSA handled more than 40 million shipping containers, or twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), in 2024, a record-breaking feat that it has called a “significant milestone”. This means that in 2024, Singapore’s port – consisting of terminals operated by both PSA and Jurong Port – surpassed the 2023 record of 39.01 million TEUs, said Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat in a Facebook post on Dec 27. Mr Chee added that the port is also on track to achieving a new record for total cargo throughput and bunker sales in 2024. PSA’s previous record of 38.8 million TEUs was set in 2023. In his post, Mr Chee credited the strong tripartite partnership and pro-business approach in the maritime sector for this latest achievement. He said: “My colleagues and I will press on with our efforts to continue growing our maritime industry in 2025 and beyond, to attract more investments, facilitate more business expansions and create more good jobs for our people.” PSA said in a statement on Dec 27 that this record reinforces the port’s status as an important gateway that connects Singapore’s economy to the global marketplace. Mr Ong Kim Pong, group chief executive of PSA International, described this record throughput for Singapore’s port, the world’s largest transshipment hub, as a “remarkable milestone”. He added that the operator will work towards strengthening the links between its port operations and other port-related services, to create a more unified port ecosystem. “We remain dedicated to integrating advanced technology with our operational expertise, while working to reinforce our role as a reliable global port operator and a trusted partner for cargo stakeholders,” said Mr Ong. In October, PSA started construction work on a new $647.5 million Tuas warehousing facility equipped with advanced robotics and automation systems. Set to be completed in the second quarter of 2027, this new PSA supply chain hub will span more than 185,000 sq m and will be located within Singapore’s new mega port in Tuas. With facilities to handle dangerous goods and those that require cold storage, such as pharmaceuticals and chemicals that require special handling, the new hub will improve Singapore’s ability to handle cargo shipments. Tuas Port, which is being developed in four phases, will be able to handle 65 million TEUs when fully operational in the 2040s, making it the world’s largest automated port. As at October, 10 of its 66 container berths are in operation, with one more berth expected to begin operations by end-2024. By 2027, operations at Tanjong Pagar, Keppel, and Brani terminals will be shifted to the $20 billion mega port. Meanwhile, the Pasir Panjang terminal will remain open until its operations are consolidated in Tuas by the 2040s. Mr Nelson Quek, regional CEO of South-east Asia at PSA International, said that the operator will continue working closely with the public and private sectors to deliver new capabilities that will strengthen Singapore’s roles as a critical global trade node and leading international maritime hub. The latest record means Singapore remains one of the busiest ports in the world. The port of Shanghai continues to occupy the top spot, setting a record in 2024 for being the first port in the world to handle more than 50 million TEUs annually. Source: The Straits Times
My name is Rev. Clayton Summers, I have a background in engineering and I serve as the Resident Minister & Caretaker of the Walter Scott Camp & Learning Center south of Effingham. Two of the main focuses of Walter Scott are Education and Creation Care. Here at Walter Scott, we have now had our solar panels installed and tied into the grid for around 18 months. As part of that, we wanted to share the experience thus far, some of the numbers, and how this is a viable (and affordable) way to Care for Creation that nearly any person, family, church, nonprofit, or business entity can do. Our system is a 10kWh system, and thus far, our solar panels have saved an equivalent of 16 tons of carbon dioxide from going into the atmosphere compared to fossil fuel powered electricity. Another way to think about this would be as 1,600 gallons of gas, or driving a standard vehicle 35,000 miles. While there still are minerals mined in manufacturing solar panels, over their lifetime the mined minerals are 26 times less than if this energy were generated by coal. Additionally, solar panels make for cleaner air for everyone, as unlike fossil fuels, they do not increase rates of asthma or other breathing disorders from by-products of burning dirty energy sources. We do want to acknowledge that nothing lasts forever, and that is why we are grateful there are groups working on industrial-grade recycling centers for solar panels. These aren’t yet ready to handle all of the waste that will come, but people are working on solutions to problems we don’t even have yet. Our final note on the environmental impact of solar panels is that they alone aren’t going to stop climate change or save the planet, but they are part of an integrated solution to a clean grid. Along with hydropower, wind, nuclear, tidal generators, and battery storage, we can make a healthier environment together. When it comes to maintenance, the story of our panels can be summed up in one word: “low.” While some folks do clean off their panels to remove dust and improve efficiency, we get frequent enough rain in our area that this isn’t a factor with which we bother. The only times we clean off the panels are if we get substantial snow that will not be melting for several days (we put in maybe 1 hour of sweeping total over the course of a year). Other than this, we check in to make sure everything is functioning on the handy phone app twice a week and let them generate power. It’s pretty simple! The sticker price for our panels was $50,000. However, thanks to legislation in Illinois (the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act) and at the federal level (the Inflation Reduction Act), our total cost after all government rebates is $13,000. Given our utility provider and agreement for being tied into the grid, this means the panels will pay for themselves in 6.5 years, with about another 20 of producing free power after that. With the current legislation in place, we would be giving up free money (available to all non-profits, businesses, and individuals who own a home) to not have these panels. While legislation and tax credits/direct payments can change with different administrations, Illinois’ CEJA legislation does not currently have an end in sight (30% rebate). Even with zero rebates, solar would still be a net positive to our annual budget as it insulates us from any future rate hikes by utility providers. It is worth noting that if you haven’t looked in-depth at solar panels in the past 10 years, they have significantly decreased in cost as production has gone to scale. Like any technology, the cost decreases as it is produced in larger volumes. As of 2024, solar energy is the most cost-effective form of energy on the market. Do note that you should still make certain to go through a reputable company in installing solar. The best way to do this is by asking someone who already has solar panels who they used and if they are happy with the process. If it makes sense, choose a local provider to support the local community. Eighteen months in, if we were to install solar panels again (we will be doing this on other buildings at the camp, so it isn’t hypothetical for us), we would also opt for a battery as well. This will increase the initial cost, but save us money in the long run. We save more by using the energy we produce, than ‘selling’ it to our utility provider. In simple terms, we’d rather store what we don’t need and use it later, like in the evening when the sun isn’t shining, to maximize our savings. We find installing a clean energy source to be one of the expressions of our faith. The numbers show it is wise financial stewardship, but it also is wise earth stewardship. Our Christian faith calls for us to care for this sacred earth, and this is one of the many ways we are able to live into that call. If you want to know more, send us a message and we’ll be happy to talk about more specifics of the state and federal rebates, what the process is like from start to finish, and any other questions as we’re able. Now, with the announcement of the sequel, expectations are running high for "Ne Zha 2" to continue the box office success story and captivate audiences once again. US News Today Live: Flight attendant faces dismissal over her social media post about Liam Payne's body onboardBig Ten slate features Indiana-Ohio State showdown and Penn State-Minnesota matchup Things to watch this week in the Big Ten Conference: No. 5 Indiana (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten, No. 5 CFP ) at No. 2 Ohio State (9-1, 6-1, No. 2 CFP), Saturday, noon ET (Fox) This marks the 98th matchup between these two teams, but it's only the fourth time both teams have been ranked. Although Indiana is unbeaten, its soft schedule means the Hoosiers aren't assured of making the 12-team field if they lose this game. The only team with a winning record that Indiana has beaten is Washington (6-5). Ohio State needs a win to have a realistic shot at a rematch with top-ranked Oregon in the Big Ten championship game. Ohio State has beaten Indiana 28 straight times since the Hoosiers posted back-to-back victories in 1987-88. No. 4 Penn State (9-1, 6-1, No. 4 CFP) at Minnesota (6-4, 4-3), Saturday, 3:30 p.m. (CBS) This is likely Penn State's biggest obstacle on its way to a potential playoff berth. The Nittany Lions' lone remaining regular-season game is a Nov. 30 home matchup with Maryland (4-6, 1-6). Minnesota has had an extra week to prepare this game since its 26-19 loss at Rutgers on Nov. 9, which snapped a four-game winning streak. Penn State and Minnesota have split their last four meetings, with the home team winning each time. Penn State DE Abdul Carter has multiple tackles for loss in each of his last three games. He ranks second among all Bowl Subdivision players in tackles for loss (17 1⁄2). Southern California RB Woody Marks rushed for a career-high 146 yards in a 28-20 win over Nebraska. Marks has six 100-yard rushing performances this season. Rutgers RB Kyle Monangai is the first Scarlet Knight to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons since Ray Rice did it three straight years from 2005-07. Monangai has run for 1,028 yards this season and rushed for 1,262 yards last year. Oregon OLB Matayo Uiagalelei recorded a sack and had a game-clinching interception as the top-ranked Ducks won 16-13 at Wisconsin last week. He has 8 1⁄2 sacks this season to rank second in the Big Ten. Four of the top seven Bowl Subdivision quarterbacks in passer rating are from the Big Ten. Indiana's Kurtis Rourke is second, Ohio State's Will Howard is third, Penn State's Drew Allar is fifth and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel is seventh. ... Illinois QB Luke Altmyer has thrown 18 touchdown passes with only three interceptions. The only Power Four quarterback with a better touchdown/interception ratio while throwing at least 10 touchdown passes is Clemson's Cade Klubnik, who has 26 touchdowns and four interceptions. ... Rutgers' three Big Ten wins matches its largest total since joining the league in 2014. Rutgers also had three conference wins in 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2023. A victory Saturday over No. 24 Illinois would give Rutgers three straight Big Ten wins for the first time. ... Rudy Giuliani has been rebuked by a US federal judge after the former New York City mayor interrupted a court hearing, pleading he could not pay his bills because two Georgia election workers to whom he owes millions of dollars have tied up his assets. or signup to continue reading Giuliani, once a personal lawyer for US President-elect Donald Trump, owes the election workers $US148 million ($A229 million). He spoke on Tuesday ahead of a January trial to determine which assets he must surrender to Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea Moss. The two election workers won the verdict from a jury in Washington DC, after accusing Giuliani of destroying their reputations by lying that they tried to help steal the 2020 US presidential election from Trump. US District Judge Lewis Liman in Manhattan previously threatened Giuliani with civil contempt for failing to surrender assets, including a luxury Manhattan apartment, to partially cover what he owes. Giuliani's lawyer Joseph Cammarata told Liman his client had turned over 90 per cent of the assets. But the judge questioned Giuliani's alleged struggle to secure paperwork to hand over his 1980 Mercedes vehicle, saying Giuliani's prior job as the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan was a sign he was fully competent. That prompted Giuliani, 80, to speak up, complaining that his day-to-day life had been hamstrung by the election workers. "Your implication that I have been not diligent about this is totally incorrect," Giuliani said from the defence table, pointing at the judge. "I don't have a car, I don't have a credit card, I don't have cash," Giuliani said. "I can't pay my bills." Liman then warned Giuliani that he could not speak again in court unless testifying under oath because his lawyer should do the talking. "There should be no higher priority for your client right now than complying with the court's orders. Period," Liman told Cammarata. The scheduled January 16 trial will address whether Giuliani must surrender property in Florida and sports memorabilia. Liman separately rejected Giuliani's request to delay the trial so he could attend events connected to Trump's January 20 inauguration. Cammarata said Giuliani still regularly consults with Trump. "The defendant's social calendar does not constitute due cause," Liman said. Giuliani has been disbarred in New York, and pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in Georgia and Arizona that he aided Trump's unsuccessful attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Source : Latvia-based Russian media outlet Meduza Details : The first law signed by Putin adds the concept of "refusal to have children" to Article 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offences, entitled Propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations and (or) preferences, sex reassignment. This article provides for fines of 50,000 to 400,000 roubles (approximately from US$ 480 to 3,800) for citizens; 400,000 to 800,000 roubles (from US$ 3,800 to 7,670) for officials, and two to five million roubles (from US$ 19,100 to 48,000) for legal entities. At the same time, the law notes that the dissemination of information about the monastic way of life and the vow of celibacy associated with the refusal to have children will not be considered an administrative offence. The second document amends six federal laws at once and stipulates that information that "promotes" refusal to have children will be banned from being used in films, advertising, the media and the Internet. The third law signed by Putin amends the Family Code by adding a note to one of its articles stating that people living in countries where "sex reassignment" is allowed cannot be adoptive parents. On 25 September, two bills were submitted to the State Duma [the lower chamber of the Russian Parliament – ed.] to ban the propaganda of "refusal to have children". On 12 November, the Duma passed both documents in the second and third readings. The authors of the draft law explained that the spread of the childlessness ideology in the Russian society "leads to the degradation of social institutions" and called it "one of the threats to traditional values". The law banning the adoption of children by citizens of countries where "sex reassignment" is allowed was introduced to the State Duma in July 2024 and passed on 12 November. The explanatory note stated that it was aimed at "making it impossible for any representatives of the LGBT community to adopt Russian children". Support UP or become our patron !

VICTORIA Mudyanembwa, a brilliant young student from the rural heartland of Lukosi in Hwange District, who just earned a first class honours degree from the University of Zimbabwe in Pharmaceutical Chemistry as the top student in her year, is now moving to Oxford University for a post-graduate degree on the prestigious Rhodes scholarship. Ms Mudyanembwa, the inaugural president of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Society of Zimbabwe, won the sole Rhodes Scholarship for Zimbabwe for next year. Zimbabwe and Zambia share three of these scholarships each year and alternate between one and two each. Ms Mudyanembwa will join a cohort of exceptional scholars from around the world. In 2018, Ms Mudyanembwa earned the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Scholarship to attend the University of Zimbabwe after she left Marist Brothers Dete High School in Hwange so her high-level promise has been recognised for many years. She will be heading to the University of Oxford in September 2025 to join a cohort of more than 100 scholars from across the globe, undertaking postgraduate studies on a full scholarship with travel and liviing expenses included. In a statement, the Rhodes Scholarship national secretary of Zimbabwe, Mr Dalumuzi Mhlanga, confirmed Ms Mudyanembwa’s selection, noting that she joins an elite group of Zimbabweans who have benefited from the same scholarship. Mr Mhlanga highlighted that she overcame stiff competition to secure the only slot available for studies starting next year. “When the committee meets every year to select Rhodes Scholars, we are always amazed by the abundance of bright, driven, and capable young people in Zimbabwe. This year the selection committee made the difficult decision to award the only scholarship to Victoria Mudyanembwa, which speaks to the very high bar that the scholarship’s criteria demand of both candidates and selectors in their consideration and evaluation. “We hope this encourages young Zimbabweans and candidates, in particular, to consistently excel across all the varied key pillars of the criteria, which cover academics, character, leadership, and service, much like Victoria has done,” said Mr Mhlanga Notable past winners of the scholarship include former Deputy Prime Minister Professor Arthur Mutambara. Ms Mudyanembwa expressed her gratitude for being selected for the prestigious scholarship. “I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be named a Rhodes Scholar-elect. This is an extraordinary honour, and I am deeply humbled to be part of such a prestigious community. “I am indebted to my family, friends, mentors, and supervisors, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in my journey. With this scholarship, I am excited to embark on a new chapter in my life. I am eager to contribute to the global community, to learn from brilliant minds, and to make a positive impact on the world,” said Ms Mudyanembwa. In furthering her studies, she aims to leverage new technologies to explore complex biology and medicine, with a particular focus on better understanding how indigenous traditional medicine can be made widely available, safely, and cost-effectively. Mr Mhlanga announced that the next applications will open on 1 June 2025, encouraging brilliant Zimbabweans to apply. “Each year, the selection committee looks forward to engaging with remarkable young Zimbabweans of all backgrounds across gender, race, and academic discipline, from both local and international universities. It is our young people who continue to fly the Zimbabwean flag high as they seek to drive progressive change in their fields of study and in the communities and spaces where they find themselves,” said Mr Mhlanga.
