LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Andrej Jakimovski converted an off-balance layup with 8 seconds left, and Colorado handed No. 2 UConn its second loss in two days at the Maui Invitational, beating the two-time defending national champion 73-72 on Tuesday. A day after to Memphis that left about the officiating, UConn (4-2) couldn’t shake the unranked Buffaloes (5-1), who shot 62.5% in the second half. With Colorado trailing 72-71 in the closing seconds, Jakimovski drove to his right and absorbed contact from UConn’s Liam McNeeley. He tossed the ball toward the glass and the shot was good as he fell to the floor. Hassan Diarra missed a 3-pointer just ahead of the buzzer for UConn. Elijah Malone and Julian Hammond III scored 16 points each for Colorado, and Jakimovski had 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Huskies led 40-32 at halftime and by nine points early in the second half, but Colorado quickly closed that gap. McNeeley led UConn with 20 points. The final police report caps a nearly two-year investigation into Bolsonaro's role in the election-denying movement that culminated in riots by his supporters that swept the capital Brasilia in January 2023, just a week after his rival President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took office. Many protesters at the time said they wanted to create chaos to justify a military coup, which they considered imminent. Earlier this week, police arrested five conspirators suspected of planning to assassinate Lula before he took office. Investigators found evidence Bolsonaro knew of that alleged plan, according to a police source familiar with the probe. Bolsonaro said on social media that investigators and the Supreme Court judge overseeing the case had been "creative" and done "everything the law does not say," adding that he would have to look closer at the formal police accusation. His lawyer told Reuters he would wait to see the report before commenting. The formal police accusations against Bolsonaro are a fresh blow to his plan to run for president in 2026 . U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's recent victory had buoyed Bolsonaro allies trying to overturn a court decision that has blocked him from public office for attacking the legitimacy of the 2022 vote. With the police report now filed with the Supreme Court, the country's prosecutor general will decide whether to press charges against Bolsonaro and 36 others accused of criminal organization to violently overthrow the democratic order. Among the accused are two of Bolsonaro's former defense ministers, including his 2022 running mate, retired General Walter Braga Netto; his former national security adviser, retired General Augusto Heleno; former navy commander Almir Garnier Santos; and former Justice Minister Anderson Torres. Lawmaker Alexandre Ramagem, who ran the Brazilian spy agency ABIN, and the head of Bolsonaro's right-wing Liberal Party, Valdemar Costa Neto, were also among the accused named in a federal police statement. Lawyers for Heleno and Torres and aides to Ramagem and Braga Netto declined to comment. Representatives for Garnier Santos and Costa Neto did not immediately respond to questions. Brazil's Defense Ministry, army and navy did not immediately respond to requests for comment. ARRESTS THIS WEEK Police on Tuesday arrested five people suspected of involvement in the assassination plot targeting Lula, then president-elect, and his running mate Geraldo Alckmin, days before they took office. Lula, speaking at the presidential palace on Thursday, said he was lucky to be alive. "The attempt to poison me and Alckmin didn't work and here we are," he said. Tuesday's arrests included retired Brigadier General Mario Fernandes, who was a deputy minister in Bolsonaro's cabinet. Police said they found in his possession a document outlining the plan that had been printed at the presidential palace. A police source said investigators had confirmed Bolsonaro was at the presidential palace when the document was printed, and they had identified conversations between his associates suggesting the former president was aware of the plot. Three active duty officers arrested on Tuesday had special forces training. Bolsonaro, a hard-right politician who had been an army captain, filled the top tiers of his government with military officers. Bolsonaro never recognized his October 2022 electoral defeat and he left Brazil days before Lula's inauguration for Florida. He eventually returned to Brazil and surrendered his passport to police investigating his role in the January 2023 capital riots, when supporters stormed and vandalized the Supreme Court, Congress and the executive presidential palace. Earlier this year, federal police finished separate criminal probes of Bolsonaro and his associates, formally accusing them of tampering with COVID-19 vaccination cards while in office and of embezzling jewelry gifted by the Saudi government. He denied wrongdoing in both cases. A person close to Brazil's Prosecutor General Paulo Gonet said he is likely to consider the result of all three probes targeting the former president before making a decision on presenting charges, without any clear deadline. With traffic often reaching a standstill, these periods pose a significant challenge for daily commuters. To mitigate the risks and ensure a smoother journey, adopting strategic driving techniques is essential for safety in heavy traffic. Increasing awareness about the dense traffic common on California roads can lead to improved commuting experiences. Understanding the dynamics of peak traffic times and planning accordingly can help individuals avoid unnecessary delays. In addition, recognizing the high potential for car accidents in suburban regions, and taking steps to enhance personal safety, becomes vital. Adopting simple safety measures, such as maintaining a safe distance and adjusting travel time, can significantly improve daily commutes. For those confronted with the consequences of a car accident, consulting legal support for accidents can be crucial. Emphasizing the importance of these proactive steps not only enhances personal safety but also contributes to a more efficient flow of traffic in congested areas. California’s traffic dynamics present unique challenges due to its varied landscape and dense urban centers. Commuters must navigate not only heavy traffic and rush hours but also adverse weather conditions that can impact road safety and visibility. Rush hours in California significantly increase traffic congestion, particularly in urban areas. Heavy traffic leads to a higher probability of accidents as drivers make quick decisions and abrupt stops. Defensive driving is essential during these times. Paying close attention to lane markings and signals can help reduce the risk of collisions. California roads require drivers to remain alert and patient, especially when in traffic queues or near busy intersections where sudden lane changes are common. Changing lanes on California’s busy roads demands attentiveness and precision. Lane changes should be executed following the proper use of turn signals to indicate intentions to fellow drivers. Being aware of the flow of traffic and any gaps can prevent accidents. Intersections can be particularly challenging due to the convergence of vehicles from multiple directions. Knowing the rules and right-of-way protocols at intersections is vital for maintaining safety and preventing mishaps. Weather conditions in California can range from bright, sunny days to sudden storms that reduce visibility and create slick roads. Adverse weather can lead to issues such as hydroplaning , where tires lose contact with the road surface due to excess water. Drivers should reduce speed and increase the following distances in these conditions. Visibility can be compromised during rain or fog, which necessitates the use of headlights and careful monitoring of the surroundings. Understanding weather forecasts and preparing accordingly can enhance road safety during commutes. Safe driving in busy suburban areas requires attention to essential practices that enhance traffic safety. Key focus areas include maintaining safe distances, minimizing distractions, understanding interactions with bicyclists and pedestrians, and handling aggressive drivers through defensive strategies. Keeping a safe following distance is vital to avoid collisions and allow time to react to unexpected events. Drivers should ideally maintain a gap of at least three seconds from the vehicle ahead. In adverse weather conditions, increasing this distance is advised to account for reduced visibility and traction. Attention to changes in traffic flow is necessary. Stopping quickly or encountering sudden jams requires awareness and spacing between vehicles. This practice significantly reduces risks of rear-end accidents, especially in stop-and-go traffic common in suburban areas. Avoid distractions like mobile phones, food, or changing settings within the car. Using a hands-free system for calls can help minimize the risks. Modern technology, such as GPS, can assist with navigation but should be set before departure to prevent divided attention during driving. Staying alert means being constantly aware of the surroundings, including vehicle speeds, road conditions, and neighboring drivers. Ensuring sufficient rest before driving helps remain sharp and responsive. This vigilance is critical in preventing incidents that could stem from delayed reaction times. Drivers should carefully navigate areas frequented by bicyclists and pedestrians. California roads often feature dedicated lanes for bicyclists; respecting these spaces is essential. Moreover, always check blind spots before turning or changing lanes to avoid surprise encounters with cyclists. Pedestrians can appear unexpectedly, particularly near schools or shopping areas. Yielding to pedestrians at crosswalks and being prepared to stop is mandatory. Using turn signals well in advance alerts both bicyclists and pedestrians of intended maneuvers, reducing potential conflicts. Aggressive drivers can pose significant hazards on the road. Staying calm is crucial when faced with tailgating, speeding, or erratic lane changes by others. Avoid confrontation by not making eye contact or responding to provocations, which can escalate tensions. Defensive driving techniques are useful in maintaining safety around aggressive drivers. This includes anticipating sudden moves, maintaining constant speeds, and avoiding high-risk situations. Creating extra space between vehicles provides a buffer against hasty actions by aggressive drivers, ensuring a safer commute.

DENVER (AP) — So you're the most valuable player of that annual Thanksgiving Day backyard flag football game. Or played tackle football on any level. Or ran track. Or dabbled in basketball. Or toyed with any sport, really. Well, this may be just for you: USA Football is holding talent identification camps all over the country to find that next flag football star. It's “America’s Got Talent” meets “American Idol,” with the stage being the field and the grand prize a chance to compete for a spot on a national team. Because it’s never too early to start planning for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, where flag football will make its Summer Games debut. Know this, though — it's not an easy team to make. The men's and women's national team rosters are at “Dream Team” status given the men’s side has captured six of the last seven world championships and the women three in a row. To remain on top, the sport's national governing body is scouring every football field, park, track, basketball court and gym to find hidden talent to cultivate. USA Football has organized camps and tryouts from coast to coast for anyone ages 11 to 23. There are more than a dozen sites set up so far, ranging from Dallas (Sunday) to Chicago (Dec. 14) to Tampa (March 29) to Los Angeles (TBD) and the Boston area (April 27), where it will be held at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. The organization has already partnered with the NFL on flag football initiatives and programs. The numbers have been through the roof, with engagement on social media platforms increasing by 86% since flag football was announced as an Olympic invitational sport in October 2023 . The participation of boys and girls ages 6 to 17 in flag football last year peaked at more than 1.6 million, according to USA Football research. “We pride ourselves on elevating the gold standard across the sport,” said Eric Mayes, the managing director of the high performance and national teams for USA Football. “We want to be the best in the world — and stay the best in the world.” Flag football was one of five new sports added to the LA28 program. The already soaring profile of American football only figures to be enhanced by an Olympic appearance. Imagine, say, a few familiar faces take the field, too. Perhaps even NFL stars such as Tyreek Hill or Patrick Mahomes, maybe even past pro football greats donning a flag belt for a country to which they may have ties. Soon after flag football's inclusion, there was chatter of NFL players possibly joining in on the fun. Of course, there are logistical issues to tackle before their inclusion at the LA Olympics, which open July 14, 2028. Among them, training camp, because the Olympics will be right in the middle of it. The big question is this: Will owners permit high-priced players to duck out for a gold-medal pursuit? No decisions have yet been made on the status of NFL players for the Olympics. For now, it's simply about growing the game. There are currently 13 states that sanction girls flag football as a high school varsity sport. Just recently, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles helped pave the way to get it adopted in Pennsylvania. Around the world, it's catching on, too. The women's team from Japan took third at the recent word championships, while one of the best players on the planet is Mexico quarterback Diana Flores . “Could flag football globally become the new soccer? That’s something to aspire to," said Stephanie Kwok , the NFL's vice president of flag football. This type of flag football though, isn't your Thanksgiving Day game with family and friends. There's a learning curve. And given the small roster sizes, versatility is essential. Most national team members need to be a version of Colorado’s two-way standout and Heisman hopeful Travis Hunter. Forget bump-and-run coverage, too, because there's no contact. None. That took some adjusting for Mike Daniels, a defensive back out of West Virginia who earned a rookie minicamp invitation with the Cleveland Browns in 2017. “If a receiver is running around, I’m thinking, ‘OK, I can kind of bump him here and there and nudge him,’” Daniels explained. “They’re like, ‘No, you can’t.’ I’m just like, ‘So I’m supposed to let this guy just run?!’ I really rebelled at the idea at first. But you learn.” The competition for an Olympic roster spot is going to be fierce because only 10 players are expected to make a squad. The best 10 will earn it, too, as credentials such as college All-American or NFL All-Pro take a backseat. “I would actually love" seeing NFL players try out, said Daniels, who's also a personal trainer in Miami. “I’m not going to let you just waltz in here, thinking, ‘I played NFL football for five years. I’m popular. I have a huge name.’ I’m still better than you and I'm going to prove it — until you prove otherwise.” Around the house, Bruce Mapp constantly swivels his hips when turning a hallway corner or if his daughter tries to reach for a hug. It’s his way of working on avoiding a “defender” trying to snare the flag. That approach has earned the receiver out of Coastal Carolina four gold medals with USA Football. The 31-year-old fully plans on going for more gold in Los Angeles. “You grow up watching Usain Bolt (win gold) and the ‘Redeem Team’ led by Kobe Bryant win a gold medal, you're always thinking, ‘That's insane.' Obviously, you couldn't do it in your sport, because I played football," said Mapp, who owns a food truck in the Dallas area. "With the Olympics approaching, that (gold medal) is what my mind is set on." It's a common thought, which is why everything — including talent camps — starts now. “Everybody thinks, ‘Yeah, the U.S. just wins,’” Daniels said. “But we work hard all the time. We don’t just walk in. We don’t just get off the bus thinking, ‘We’re going to beat people.’” AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl and https://twitter.com/AP_NFLThe days leading up to the team's early return were filled with intense training sessions, tactical meetings, and team bonding exercises. The players pushed themselves to their limits, determined to show the world that they were capable of greatness once again. The coaching staff devised a new strategy and game plan, aiming to restore Real Madrid's winning mentality and dynamism on the pitch.Furthermore, the recent strength in the Chinese yuan and improvements in market liquidity have provided additional support to the A-share market, creating a favorable environment for investors to increase their exposure to domestic equities.

In a shocking turn of events, the legendary gaming phenomenon "Mystical Beast Palru" has officially declared its intention to participate in the prestigious The Game Awards (TGA) ceremony this year. With the promise of a thrilling new chapter in the Palru saga, fans are eagerly anticipating what surprises the developers have in store for them.Working in a call centre is the modern equivalent of Taylorist approaches to the assembly line with workers alienated from the activity. With non-stop calls, background noise, and a fast-paced setting, many call centre workers understandably find it hard to stay focused and managers are keen to extract maximal value. A recent survey finds that one in three (34 percent) say they struggle to concentrate on the job. Naturally this affects mental health as well as ‘productivity’; it can also impact customer interactions and overall worker job satisfaction. Some analysts, keen to gain improvements in productivity, have asked the question ‘what can call centre employees do to tackle these distractions and boost their focus?’ A slower-pace of work is not on the agenda. From the productivity perspective, Ben Booth, CEO and Founder at MaxContact , a contact centre software specialist, has compiled a list of things workers can adopt to improve their concentration in the workplace. This information has been shared with Digital Journal . The report found an increase in hybrid workers , with 66 percent of those surveyed working from home and in the office, with another 11 percent being fully remote. While remote working may increase productivity, reports show that 80 percent of UK workers believe working from home has a negative impact on their mental health. This is due to being more isolated from co-workers and a potential lack of routine. It was further reported that only 45 percent of leaders surveyed thought the team’s overall happiness was the most important thing regarding their performance, amongst other factors. What can employers do to make workers feel more motivated and focused in the workplace? The MaxContact survey finds: Encourage growth and learning Learning and growth opportunities allow employees to feel more competent and confident in their roles. Employers share coaching tips with workers seven times per month on average. It is critical to continuously encourage this, the survey’s message runs, because employees who learn new skills or improve existing ones will feel more invested in their work. Engaged employees are more likely to stay focused on their tasks, as they are more likely to see it as part of a larger personal development path. Work with employees to create personalised development plans that outline their goals and the steps needed to achieve them. As a business, you can also offer workshops, seminars, and courses that align with employees’ career goals to encourage growth and learning. Reward achievements By reinforcing positive behaviours, according to the survey, it is likely to improve focus and increase motivation. When achievements are rewarded, employees have even clearer goals to work toward. This goal-setting helps to focus efforts on key tasks. These will align their daily activities with the company’s objectives to reach those milestones far more effectively. Prioritise work-life balance and support mental health 72 percent of call centre employees reported feeling burnt out or facing burnout. This can be detrimental to both the employee and the business. Prolonged stress from burnout can result in physical and mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, insomnia, and chronic illnesses. It can also cause employees to take more sick days or leave their jobs altogether, leading to higher turnover rates and additional costs for the organisation. When employees have time to recharge outside of work, they are less likely to feel exhausted or overwhelmed. Foster a positive environment Creating a friendly, respectful, and inclusive environment where employees feel valued can make a significant impact on their engagement and willingness to contribute. You can do this by encouraging employees to share their thoughts and ideas without fear of judgement. The report recommends to use tools like suggestion boxes, regular one-on-one meetings, and team forums to do so, for example. This will also improve communication among employees, which can make workflow more cohesive, with workers more willing to help each other out when necessary. Create space for open feedback Regular feedback sessions allow employees to voice concerns and ideas, making them feel heard and showing that their input is respected. It also gives workers a chance to air out any issues they may be concerned with, so there is no built-up resentment towards the company or lack of motivation as a result. To create a more responsive space for feedback, you can organise workshops or training sessions that focus on giving and receiving feedback effectively, teaching employees how to communicate their thoughts constructively. Ahead of the game, one member of the Rebels is already taking shots at the Gators. Through just nine games in his lone year for the Rebels, he's already achieved nearly half of that production with 12 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. It's been a downright great season for the Rebels and Umanmielen has done his part, which included two sacks, two tackles for loss and five tackles in their huge upset win over Georgia two weeks ago. That win over Georgia was arguably the biggest of head coach Lane Kiffin's career and has put the Rebels on the fast track to the College Football Playoff in spite of losses to Kentucky and LSU earlier this year. Icon Sportswire/Getty Images With their final games coming against 5-5 Florida and 2-8 Mississippi State, there's no reason that the Rebels shouldn't win out and finish the season 10-2 with a 6-2 in-conference record. From there, they just have to hope that the dominoes fall in a way that benefits them before the final College Football Playoff team selection is announced. Of course, Florida have shown that they can punch above their weight class a number of times under head coach Billy Napier and could just as easily rain on the Rebels' parade. The game will be played at 12 p.m. ET tomorrow and will air on ABC. Related: The 16 Most Painful College Football Programs To Root For
