Mumbai, Dec 28 (IANS): Leading brokerage Ventura Securities Ltd has set a bullish target of Rs 3,801 for Adani Enterprises Ltd's (AEL) stock, which is a potential upside of 57.8 per cent over the next 24 months. The share of Adani Group's flagship company is currently trading at Rs 2,409 apiece. In a bull case scenario, the target price rises to Rs 5,748, which would mark an upside of 138.6 per cent, the brokerage said in its note. “We have assumed revenue of Rs 1,66,615 crore (FY24-27E CAGR of 20 per cent) and an EBITDA margin of 20 per cent at an EV/EBITDA of 23.4X, which will result in a bull case price target of Rs 5,748," said the brokerage. Adani Enterprises is on a strong growth trajectory, as per the note by Ventura. Over fiscal years 2024 to 2027, its consolidated revenue is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 17.5 per cent to Rs 1.56 lakh crore. "EBITDA and net margins are projected to expand by 647 basis points to 18.3 per cent and 255 bps to 5.9 per cent, respectively," it said, adding that "return ratios – RoE and RoIC – are expected to improve by 563 bps to 14.5 per cent and 99 bps to 11.3 per cent, respectively". According to the note, this growth will be driven by the company’s expansion of airport, solar, and wind turbine businesses, as well as revenue contributions from copper business. The Adani Group’s flagship company is targeting Rs 6.5-7 lakh crore in capital expenditure over the next decade, primarily focusing on airports, data centres, copper, and green hydrogen, Ventura said. "This expansion will be funded through debt, which is expected to lead to an increase in the company's debt-to-equity and debt-to-EBITDA ratios over the next few years," it added.Baiploo/iStock via Getty Images Introduction: Is It a Good Time to Invest? Barkley says he and Eagles offensive line players are in rhythmFormer President Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100. The 39th president of the United States was a Georgia peanut farmer who sought to restore trust in government when he assumed the presidency in 1977 and then built a reputation for tireless work as a humanitarian. He earned a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. He died Sunday, more than a year after entering hospice care, at his home in Plains, Georgia. At age 52, Carter was sworn in as president on Jan. 20, 1977, after defeating President Gerald R. Ford in the 1976 general election. Carter left office on Jan. 20, 1981, following his 1980 general election loss to Ronald Reagan. Here's the latest: The longest-lived American president died Sunday, more than a year after entering hospice care , at his home in the small town of Plains, Georgia, where he and his wife, Rosalynn, who died at 96 in November 2023 , spent most of their lives. “Our founder, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, passed away this afternoon in Plains, Georgia,” The Carter Center said in posting about his death on the social media platform X. It added in a statement that he died peacefully, surrounded by his family. In his 1975 book “Why Not The Best,” Carter said of himself: “I am a Southerner and an American, I am a farmer, an engineer, a father and husband, a Christian, a politician and former governor, a planner, a businessman, a nuclear physicist, a naval officer, a canoeist, and among other things a lover of Bob Dylan’s songs and Dylan Thomas’s poetry.” A moderate Democrat, Carter entered the 1976 presidential race as a little-known Georgia governor with a broad smile, outspoken Baptist mores and technocratic plans reflecting his education as an engineer. After he left office and returned home to his tiny hometown of Plains in southwest Georgia, Carter regularly taught Sunday School lessons at Maranatha Baptist Church until his mobility declined. Those sessions drew visitors from around the world.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Shaquil Barrett is rejoining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs signed the two-time Super Bowl champion on Saturday, while also announcing safety Jordan Whitehead was activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday’s home game against the Carolina Panthers. Barrett spent five seasons with Tampa Bay from 2019 to 2023. He led the NFL with a franchise-record 19 1-2 sacks in his first year with the Bucs, then helped the team win its second Super Bowl title the following season. In all, Barrett started 70 games with Tampa Bay, amassing 45 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three interceptions. He was released last winter in a salary cap move, signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins in free agency, then abruptly announced his retirement on social media before the start of training camp in July. Barrett, who also won a Super Bowl during a four-season stint with the Denver Broncos, decided to unretire last month. He signed with the Bucs after clearing waivers earlier in the week. Whitehead has missed the past four games with a pectoral injury. His return comes of the heels of the Bucs placing safety Christian Izien on IR with a pectoral injury. On Saturday, the Bucs also activated rookie wide receiver Kameron Johnson from IR and elevated punter Jack Browning to the active roster from the practice squad. ProFound will enable women who have not otherwise received an AI-read on their screening mammogram to access iCAD's advanced breast health technology. The initiative reflects both companies' dedication to democratizing access to life-saving technology and creating a world where cancer can't hide. ProFound Health will offer a "Second Read” virtual AI service, providing patients without access to AI an opportunity to receive enhanced breast health insights. The initial service will include second-read detection, breast density assessment, and cancer risk evaluation from a Cascaid-affiliated specialist network of clinical experts in women's health through Cascaid's seamlessly integrated digital platform. By combining AI insights with expert clinical reviews, ProFound Health ensures that patients everywhere, regardless of location, can receive precision screening and personalized care. This next-generation AI solution enhances breast cancer detection by incorporating prior exams into current analysis, improving the detection of aggressive cancers by 22%, reducing cases with no marks by 18%, and providing clinicians with more reliable insights for better decision-making. "Every two minutes, someone loses their life to breast cancer-a disease affecting over 2.3 million women annually. Early detection is critical, as five-year survival rates exceed 99% for stage 1 disease. Yet traditional mammography misses over 20% of breast cancers, particularly in dense tissue, resulting in potentially avoidable late-stage diagnoses,” said Dana Brown, President and CEO of iCAD, Inc. "ProFound Detection Version 4 revolutionizes breast cancer detection by uniquely integrating prior exams into its analysis. This advanced capability enhances sensitivity, sharpens precision, and provides radiologists with a deeper, longitudinal view of a patient's breast health. By enabling earlier and more accurate detection, especially in dense tissue, ProFound Detection Version 4 sets a new standard in breast health AI, empowering providers to improve outcomes and save lives. Together with our strategic partnerships, we are advancing the fight against cancer and making a meaningful difference for patients worldwide.” ICAD'S RSNA 2024 Program Highlights AI-Powered Insights: Advancing Cancer Detection iCAD will be hosting a customer appreciation event, "AI in the Sky: Discover ProFound Insights & Breast Health Innovations," on Sunday, December 1, at 6:00 PM at VU Rooftop in Chicago. Pavit Ramachandran —PHOTO FROM ADB WEBSITE The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Tuesday announced a $500 million policy-based loan meant to further support the Philippines in addressing the effects of climate change. In a statement, the Manila-based multilateral lender said the loan would help its host country implement its nationally determined contribution (NDC), the government’s commitment to help advance global efforts to stabilize the world’s climate under the Paris deal. Under its NDC, the Philippines aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions and scale up adaptation. READ: ADB prepares $500-M policy loan to boost PH fiscal modernization The new ADB financing—which will carry a concessional rate and better terms for the borrower compared with those that come with commercial loans—will add to the government’s debt stock that was pegged at a record-high of P15.89 trillion as of end-September. The lender said the new climate loan for the Philippines will have a 15-year term, including a three-year grace period. It will have an interest rate in accordance with ADB’s Flexible Loan Product and a commitment charge of 0.15 percent annually. “Climate change is exacerbating all major development challenges in the Philippines. The country’s high vulnerability impacts its economic momentum and outlook,” said ADB Philippines country director Pavit Ramachandran. According to the World Risk Index 2022–2024, the Philippines faces the highest disaster risk in the world. In recent weeks, four strong typhoons impacted the Philippines one after the other, highlighting vulnerability to increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. Economic damages from climate-related disasters could be as high as 7.6 percent of gross domestic product by 2030, the ADB said. “This program is part of our commitment to help our host country avert economic damages from future climate change impact, mobilize green investment, and transform its economy,” Ramachandran added. The fresh ADB loan was prepared jointly with the Agence Française de Développement, which is providing cofinancing of $278.3 million. The Musketeers (7-2) were ranked No. 22 in the AP poll two weeks ago but fell out after a 25-point loss to Michigan in the Fort Myers Tip-Off tournament final on Nov. 27. Xavier then barely escaped with a 71-68 home win over South Carolina State on Dec. 1 before losing 76-72 at TCU on Thursday. Dante Maddox Jr. came off the bench to score nine points in 20 minutes on three 3-pointers against the Horned Frogs. He also grabbed six rebounds before fouling out. The Musketeers have been waiting for the Toledo transfer to add a punch to an underwhelming bench cast that many thought would be a strength for Xavier coming into the season. "I really feel like you can almost be baited into a false sense of how deep your team is because you're around guys every day and have a good, older group, which we do," Musketeers coach Sean Miller said. "You see the good in a lot of different guys. It's not until you get 8 to 10, 10 to 15 games in when you truly understand how deep your team is." Maddox hit a 3-pointer and started a fastbreak with a steal that gave Xavier a 60-54 lead with 7:28 remaining, but the Musketeers faded down the stretch and lost for the second time in three games. Maddox is averaging 4.7 points per game, while Ryan Conwell leads the team with 16.6. Tuesday's game will be the last chance for Xavier to straighten up before visiting No. 22 Cincinnati on Saturday for the teams' annual intense crosstown showdown. Morgan State (5-7) is coming off a 102-81 road loss at Bowling Green on Saturday. Preseason All-MEAC First Team selection Will Thomas led the Bears with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field, while Kameron Hobbs scored 12 points off the bench. Amahrie Simpkins made all five of his field-goal attempts to add 11 points and Wynston Tabbs had 10 points, six rebounds and six assists. Tabbs leads Morgan State in scoring this season at 16.8 points per game, while Simpkins (12.8) and Thomas (12.2) round out the Bears' double-digit scorers. The Bears have struggled away from home, losing all five road contests this season. --Field Level Media

Article content SEOUL, South Korea — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un vowed to implement the “toughest” anti-U.S. policy, state media reported Sunday, less than a month before Donald Trump takes office as U.S. president. Trump’s return to the White House raises prospects for high-profile diplomacy with North Korea. During his first term, Trump met Kim three times for talks on the North’s nuclear program. Many experts however say a quick resumption of Kim-Trump summitry is unlikely as Trump would first focus on conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. North Korea’s support for Russia’s war against Ukraine also poses a challenge to efforts to revive diplomacy, experts say. During a five-day plenary meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party that ended Friday, Kim called the U.S. “the most reactionary state that regards anti-communism as its invariable state policy.” Kim said that the U.S.-South Korea-Japan security partnership is expanding into “a nuclear military bloc for aggression.” “This reality clearly shows to which direction we should advance and what we should do and how,” Kim said, according to the official Korean Central News Agency. It said Kim’s speech “clarified the strategy for the toughest anti-U.S. counteraction to be launched aggressively” by North Korea for its long-term national interests and security. KCNA didn’t elaborate on the anti-U.S. strategy. But it said Kim set forth tasks to bolster military capability through defence technology advancements and stressed the need to improve the mental toughness of North Korean soldiers. The previous meetings between Trump and Kim had not only put an end to their exchanges of fiery rhetoric and threats of destruction, but they developed personal connections. Trump once famously said he and Kim “fell in love.” But their talks eventually collapsed in 2019, as they wrangled over U.S.-led sanctions on the North. North Korea has since sharply increased the pace of its weapons testing activities to build more reliable nuclear missiles targeting the U.S. and its allies. The U.S. and South Korea have responded by expanding their military bilateral drills and also trilateral ones involving Japan, drawing strong rebukes from the North, which views such U.S.-led exercises as invasion rehearsals. Further complicating efforts to convince North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons in return for economic and political benefits is its deepening military cooperation with Russia. According to U.S., Ukrainian and South Korean assessments, North Korea has sent more than 10,000 troops and conventional weapons systems to support Moscow’s war against Ukraine. There are concerns that Russia could give North Korea advanced weapons technology in return, including help to build more powerful nuclear missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said last week that 3,000 North Korean troops have been killed and wounded in the fighting in Russia’s Kursk region. It was the first significant estimate by Ukraine of North Korean casualties since the North Korean troop deployment to Russia began in October. Russia and China, locked in separate disputes with the U.S., have repeatedly blocked U.S.-led pushes to levy more UN sanctions on North Korea despite its repeated missile tests in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions. Last month, Kim said that his past negotiations with the United States only confirmed Washington’s “unchangeable” hostility toward his country and described his nuclear buildup as the only way to counter external threats.MUMBAI: The first commercial aircraft will land at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) at noon on Sunay, as NMIA officials gear up for the launch of phase 1 in March 2025. The landing of the Indigo A320 will highlight the NMIA’s readiness for full scale operations. The aircraft, that will take off from Mumbai airport, will land at the 08/26 runway at the Navi Mumbai airport and will then receive the water cannon salute. No political leader will be present on the occasion due to the official mourning period announced for former prime minister Manmohan Singh. Only officials of NMIA and City Industrial Development Corporation, which is developing the airport, will be present. Earlier a C295 transport aircraft of Indian Air Force had landed at NMIA on October 11. In December, testing of the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) system - an essential component of aeronautical ground lighting that ensures pilots maintain the correct glide slope during landings – was completed in the second week of December. The calibration process completion has ensured that NMIA is near to being fully operational, clearing the path for regular commercial flight operations.
