Surf Life Saving NSW CEO Steve Pearce said the incident was a great tragedy and highlighted the importance of teaching surf safety. "Our thoughts are with the family, friends and community of the victim," Mr Pearce said. "Sadly we see drownings too often at this time of year and almost always at unpatrolled locations.
