Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU) Stock Price Down 5% – Here’s WhyGermany’s economy is in deep trouble, and Volkswagen is the poster boy. VW shares are down about 67% from their 2021 peak. Earnings are down 66% over the last year. And this week 70,000 German VW workers walked off the job. They’re furious over plant closures, layoffs, and salary cuts. So, what’s the root cause of VW’s woes? For the last few years, VW has been shifting production to electric vehicles (EVs). This is largely due to EU mandates requiring all cars to be electric by 2035. At first, the government heavily subsidized EVs. And sales jumped. But now the honeymoon is over. Let’s just say the transition to “net zero” in Europe is not going well. First of all, there’s not enough energy in the grid to charge all those batteries. And the little electricity available is very expensive. Electric autos are proving to be far more expensive from start to finish. I found a comment worth sharing from one angry German reader on the Daily Mail’s coverage of the VW strike. I live in Berlin. I would estimate 90% of people here live in flats without designated parking places. Does the government seriously expect to provide fast chargers on the streets for these 90%? They just cannot admit they are wrong. EV is fine if you have a garage, but if you live in a flat forget it. The reader makes an excellent point. Most people have no place to charge an EV. Even if there was enough energy, they’d have to leave charging cables all over the roads. That copper would disappear quickly. This is one of a dozen major flaws with the mandates. The EU technocrats who pushed these policies did zero real planning. It’s just a pipe dream. They literally saw how well Tesla was doing and said to themselves “We should make everyone do that.” This was the extent of their analysis. Nord Stream and Nuclear Germany’s move into electric vehicles is only their latest stumble when it comes to energy policy. They are also shuttering all their nuclear power plants. And they stood by passively while somebody blew up the Nord Stream gas pipeline from Russia. And even though one of the lines of Nord Stream is still operable, they aren’t utilizing it. There’s dirt cheap natural gas available and they’re choosing to buy imported liquified gas which costs 4x as much. As a result, energy prices have soared. Now Germany plans to rely on solar and wind in a country with little sun and inconsistent wind. Oh yeah, they’re also relying on “green hydrogen” to power their industrial economy (spoiler alert: this will also fail). These missteps have been devastating to Germany’s industrial base. Source: Convera, Macrobond Germany is supposed to be the economic engine of Europe. And it was, until 2018. Then the climate mandates and “net zero” rules started rolling in, and it’s been straight downhill since. Lessons Learned German workers and citizens appear to be waking up to the scam. The vast majority of people don’t want EVs, and they’re becoming loud about it. A massive political shift is underway throughout Europe. The EU mandate to ban all gas-powered cars by 2035 is doomed. Regulators are already discussing allowing hybrid vehicles, and they will eventually cave on traditional combustion engines as well. The goals are utterly impossible. This type of government intervention never goes well. EVs were already growing, finding their own path to realistic adoption levels. Then EU technocrats got involved and spoiled the entire economy. You can’t force industries to do what you want. That should be the lesson here. Here in the U.S., we’re experiencing our own awakening. President Trump and his team are set to shake things up across the board. De-regulation, energy expansion, and bringing manufacturing home. In the States at least, the awakening extends far beyond economic issues. As Elon Musk recently posted on X , “Cancel culture has been canceled”. So free speech is making a comeback, too. And across the world, people are also pushing back against lax immigration policies. It’s an exciting time. We’ve been on the wrong path for so long, and it seems that’s finally changing. Who knows, maybe the EU will eventually become investable again. For now, I will continue to avoid the continent, but let’s see what happens over the next few years.
Montana Technologies (NASDAQ:AIRJ) Shares Up 3.7% – Should You Buy?Leny Yoro finally made his official Manchester United debut on Wednesday night when he came off the bench in the second half of their 2-0 loss to Arsenal. The two teams met at the Emirates in a Premier League clash and goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba handed Ruben Amorim his first defeat since taking charge of the Red Devils last month. After a solid first half from United, they were undone by two corners from the Gunners in the second half. Mikel Arteta's men have had tremendous success from set-pieces so far this campaign and that was the case again during their victory over Amorim's side. There were some positives for United to take away from the game, though. Aside from their solid showing in the first half that offered glimpses of who United can be under Amorim, Yoro finally made his debut for the club too and it's had fans talking on social media. Goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba see Arsenal close the gap to Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. What United Fans Are Saying About Yoro Yoro joined United in the summer as a promising 18-year-old from Lille and plenty of fans were excited to see what he could do in the Premier League. He's one of the best teenagers in football , but an injury against Arsenal in a pre-season friendly put him on the shelf for months. Fans finally got to see their new star in action on Wednesday, though, when he came off the bench to make his debut against the team he'd picked up his injury against all those months earlier. Yoro was brought into the fold while his side were trailing the contest 1-0 and it wasn't the most ideal situation for the 19-year-old to make his first official appearance for the team. They went on to lose 2-0, but the centre-back managed to shine during his 35-minute cameo. During his limited time on the pitch, the Frenchman recorded three tackles, two clearances and an interception for his side. It was a taste of what he has to offer and United fans are very happy with what they saw. One supporter quickly took to X (Twitter) and highlighted the defender's showing, despite the unfavourable circumstances, saying: "Leny Yoro has been excellent. He's been thrown into the lion's den, but his defending & timing in the tackle has been superb." Another fan praised Yoro for the issues he causes his opponents and posted: "Leny Yoro, this is quite a decent cameo. Not easy to beat at all." Overall, it was a tough night for the Red Devils, but one fan took positives out of Yoro's appearance. They said: "At least Leny Yoro isn’t all hype. He’s the real deal." Finally, another supporter couldn't hide his joy about the defender's debut and is already convinced that United made the right decision signing him, posting: "It'll get ignored because fans are silly, but Leny Yoro looked VERY accomplished given the circumstances of his Premier League debut. We've bagged a good one here." Shortly after the match, highlights of Yoro's performance surfaced on social media. Check them out below. (Reuters) - The Bahamas' legislature was forced to suspend its session on Wednesday after a heated debate about a police corruption scandal escalated, with one opposition lawmaker grabbing the symbolic parliamentary mace and throwing it out the window. Parliament member Shanendon Cartwright, frustrated after Speaker Patricia Deveaux did not let him speak, was seen rushing up where she was seated, grabbing the parliamentary mace, a heavy ceremonial staff, off the bench, and then tossing it out a nearby window. "Get him!" Deveaux then yelled, with the incident recorded on a government broadcast. He, alongside several ally lawmakers, were forced out of the building by police. The move harks back to 1965, when the leader of the opposition threw the mace out of a window in a push for political change, an event that became known as "Black Tuesday." It comes after U.S. federal prosecutors charged several high-ranking Bahamian police officials with facilitating the flow of cocaine into the U.S. in exchange for bribes. Prime Minister Philip Davis said during the session on Wednesday that the police commissioner had resigned, and promised a complete overhaul of the force to weed out corruption. Outside parliament, dozens of protesters gathered, shouting "Police are criminals!" (Reporting by Kylie Madry and Robertson S. I am a Clinique Black Honey lip fan, and this gives me the same look for a fraction of the cost. I love it and have several that I keep in various spots. Not sticky either, which is my biggest gripe about lip glosses. My hair doesn’t get stuck in this like some glosses, but I get the shine ." — Hamps5 Get it from Amazon for $7 (also available in eight other shades). 11. Nothing like a lil' self-care on those aching feet to lift your spirits! Check out a TikTok of the foot masks in action. I'm a long-ish distance runner, and these were certainly an interesting experience for my feet! You slide them on and, after a few minutes, feel a tingling, mildly burning (in a good way) sensation. It doesn't quite numb your feet, but it relaxes them. I kept them on for 30 minutes and then toweled my feet off, and the tingling sensation slowly faded over the next 30 minutes. After that, my feet felt very refreshed and relaxed at a time of day when they're usually aching from all the miles I put in. This weatherstrip worked great for me. It came in two attached strips with an adhesive backing. The strips can be separated as needed. It was easy to peel the backing and install the strips. I installed both strips on the door casing where the door meets it when closed. It immediately stopped the draft that was coming in around the door. " — RH in TN Get it from Amazon for $8.57 (available in two colors). 20.
